Sundial Health

Sundial is a portable reproductive health care prototype developed to extend fertility and gynecological services beyond the traditional clinic. The modular kit combines an adjustable examination table, a mobile ultrasound workstation, clinician seating, and organized transport storage into a compact system designed for deployment in homes, workplaces, and other flexible outpatient environments.

Expanded View

My role spanned end-to-end material and component sourcing, fabrication coordination, and the build-out of multiple complete prototype kits. I also contributed substantially to weight reduction, assembly simplification, and mechanical optimization—refining the system’s structural interfaces, hinges, latches, and transport configuration to improve portability and support a more repeatable deployment process.

Probe Trays

Interchangeable tray inserts were designed and fabricated for the vaginal and abdominal ultrasound probes, creating a modular storage solution adaptable to different clinical workflows. Each tray was engineered to fit securely within the supporting Tanos bins used throughout the kit, allowing instruments to be organized, protected, and transported as part of the larger system.

The forms were intentionally streamlined, with smooth surfaces, minimal crevices, and simplified geometry to support efficient cleaning and sterilization between uses. This approach balanced secure probe retention with rapid access, easy maintenance, and repeatable manufacturing across multiple prototype kits.

Folded View

The project was driven by a patient-centered objective: essential reproductive health services should fit more naturally into patients’ lives. By bringing care closer to where people live and work, the concept sought to reduce travel, scheduling disruption, and the logistical tension between fertility treatment and career timelines.
